Ladies Autumn Am-Am 2020
The Ladies Open Am Am on Thursday 8 October, was a brilliant success despite the dreary weather. 30 teams of 4 ladies entered into this rearranged event, travelling from all over the midlands.
At the beginning of the year this was advertised as an autumn shotgun, however due to the Covid restrictions it had to be changed to a tee booking event. We were delighted to field a full start sheet from 9.30am to 2.20pm.
The day began wet, but the players were not put off. A dry spell followed in the middle of the day but the drizzle returned for the afternoon. This followed a night of heavy rain but the course stood up and played well, albeit long. To give all a fair chance in the difficult conditions, all bunkers were taken out of play, and preferred lies were allowed, which seemed to please the ladies.
To follow their round the ladies were rewarded with some warming soup and a platter of sandwiches, which seemed to go down well, and finish off the day nicely.
Once again due to the Covid restrictions, no large gatherings meant that we were unable to have a prize presentation, and score cards had to be left for 48 hours before we were able to identify the winning teams.
5 prizes were awarded all of which went to visiting teams. The winners were from Branston Golf Club and The Belfry, with the runners up team from Staverton Park. Further results can be seen here.
Ladies Open Coordinator, Dee Laurie said, "I would like to thank my team of helpers/volunteers who helped to make the day a great success. Our Presidents, Robin Laurie and Gilly Clear, Gents Captain Alan Dorn, Senior Vice Captain Ken Earp, Ginny Mulligan, Jan Dorn and Robin Dent. And of course, Danny and his Pro shop team as well as James and the catering and bar staff."
