Meet Our Captains

Phil Bamford

Gentleman Captain

As this years Men’s Captain, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Men’s section of Rothley Park.

Throughout the year we provide a wealth of opportunities for you to play both competitive and friendly golf. From April through to October we have weekly club competitions on a Saturday.

All members are welcome to enter these competitions and if you need a playing partner, our Professional team will be happy to help arrange this for you.

In addition there is a weekly Tuesday medal which runs from April to the end of September.

During the summer months there are several 9 hole evening competitions for those with less time on their hands. When fixed competitions are not taking place in the summer and throughout the winter months, there is a Saturday morning “Swindle”, which is a friendly Stableford format. There are knock out competitions in both the summer and winter. The small membership enables all members to be assured a place in all of these competitions and quickly find themselves playing with familiar faces.

Mixed social competitions are organised throughout the year with a 9 hole competition on Friday evenings which are very popular throughout the Summer. Meals are provided afterwards and weather permitting, include barbecues.

To both existing and new members, may I extend a warm welcome to our club and if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me: gentcaptain@rothleypark.co.uk

Kind regards, Andy Simpson

Jan Dorn

Lady Captain

As 2024 Ladies Captain, may I welcome you to Rothley Park.

We are a very active Ladies section that covers all age groups including Full Playing, Intermediate, Seniors, and Juniors. We have a full range of club competitions in the summer months to encourage all members to play competitive golf and make new friends. These are held every Tuesday with an additional opportunity to play on Saturdays or Sundays for those who are unable to play on a Tuesday.

During the summer months we are running several 9 hole competitions for those with less time on their hands, which can be played in the early evening.

There are knock-out competitions in both the summer and winter and a mixed winter league played with our Men’s section. Also, we hold mixed competitions in the summer to further encourage integration with our friends and partners in the Men’s section!

Scratch and Handicap teams play League matches. Friendly matches, high handicap, Senior and Junior matches also take place during the summer months, where ladies of all standards of golf are given an opportunity to enjoy playing against other Clubs. Rothley has a mixed team which plays a full set of fixtures during the summer.

Mixed social competitions are organised throughout the year with a 9 hole competition on Friday evenings which are very popular throughout Spring and Summer. Meals are provided afterwards and weather permitting, include barbecues.

Raghbir Chagger

Senior Captain

As this year’s Senior captain may I welcome you to our prestigious and friendly club. Rothley Park has a thriving Senior Section comprised of gentlemen between the ages of 55 and 80+.

In addition to the main club competitions (see the Men’s section) there is a roll up on a Monday, which allows any club member to participate. During the winter months other fun events are also organised, such as High/Low Am/Ams , 6 Club Challenges, Eclectic and Foursomes Knockouts, etc. The main summer season also includes many friendly but competitive matches against other local clubs.

May I take this opportunity to inform all potential club applicants, who may now or in the near future qualify for a “Senior Status” within the club, to consider joining the Seniors as a way of obtaining regular weekday social and competitive golf.

From personal experience, I can guarantee a very warm welcome to any new member who will find joining the Seniors section provides a fantastic way to spend your retirement years on the course!
